62 per cent progress in dam construction of Tanahun hydropower project

Little. The construction of a 140-metre high main dam under Package-1 of the Tanahun Hydropower Project at Rishing Rural Municipality of Tanahun has achieved 62 per cent progress.

According to project chief Shyamji Bhandari, 473,761 cubic meters of concrete has been filled up so far out of the total 850,TAG_OPEN_div_22 000 cubic meters required for the construction of the dam.

The construction of the main dam, the construction of a hill cutting, the construction of an access road, a temporary dam to divert the flow of the Seti River, two diversion tunnels have been completed.

The work of concreting of the main dam had begun on Chaitra 7, 2081 BS.

Core drilling, water pressure testing, consolidation grouting and curtain grouting have been carried out in various grouting galleries for the stability of the dam foundation.TAG_OPEN_div_14

Bhandari said that works like installation of shortcrete, wire mesh and construction of gabions are also being carried out continuously for slope stabilization and river conservation.TAG_OPEN_div_12
