Process to open PPA has started: 5-member sub-committee formed under the convenorship of NEA member Shahi

Kathmandu. The government has forwarded the process to open the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).

A meeting of the Board of Directors of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) held under the chairmanship of Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha on Thursday formed a sub-committee to prepare necessary criteria for the opening of PPA.

The sub-committee formed under the convenorship of NEA Board member Anshu Kiran Shahi will prepare the criteria within seven days and submit it to the Board.

Deputy Director General of the Department of Electricity Development, Shaligram Bhandari, expert Riwaj Sharma and Director of Trade Section are the members of the sub-committee.

“A sub-committee has been formed under the coordination of Anshu Kiran Shahi to prepare criteria for the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) within seven days after analyzing the existing basis and the recommendation of the committee formed by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation regarding signing the power purchase agreement (PPA) with the power producers as per the Finance Act, 2083,” reads the decision of the Board of Directors. ’
