Demand to resolve problems seen in operation of electric vehicles

Kathmandu. Transport entrepreneurs have demanded the government to address the problems surfaced in the operation of public electric vehicles.

KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE), Bagmati Province, on Monday met with representatives of authorized dealers of electric vehicles and demanded to resolve problems seen in operation of electric vehicles.

On the occasion, Federation Bagmati Province Coordinator Subarna Giri has urged the companies concerned to be serious about the problems faced by the entrepreneurs in the operation of electric vehicles. He said that there was a shortage of spare parts for electric vehicles in the market, the vehicles had to be stored in garages in lack of necessary spare parts and maintenance services were not effective.

He also stressed the need to resolve the technical problem seen in the charging service immediately. Entrepreneurs have complained that the promises and assurances made by the company while selling electric vehicles have not been implemented in practice.

Coordinator Giri said that the company should not shy away from its responsibility as the big investment of entrepreneurs in the public transport sector, employment of thousands of people and the daily life of the citizens are directly linked.

The Federation has said that it will take stern action if it does not fulfill its commitment to address the problems seen in the vehicles it sells. Although the use of electric vehicles has increased in Nepal in recent period, the after-sales service is not effective, which has caused problems for both entrepreneurs and passengers.
