Energy Minister Shrestha to visit Koshi Province to inspect electricity and irrigation infrastructure

Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, is on a visit to Koshi Province to inspect the power and irrigation infrastructures.

Minister Shrestha is scheduled to leave for Biratnagar, the capital of Koshi Province, at 1:00 pm today. The team will inspect the existing electricity problems and the condition of infrastructure including transmission lines in the east. Similarly, an on-site inspection of the condition of irrigation and canals in the eastern part of the country will also be used to formulate strategies for improvement.

The team comprises secretary at the ministry Sarita Dawadi, joint secretary Mohan Kumar Shakya, minister’s personal secretary Sudarshan Shrestha and secretariat member Devesh Belbase, among others.

Similarly, Director General of the Department of Water Resources and Irrigation, Dr. Maheshwor Shrestha, Deputy Director General Dinesh Bhatta, Acting Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha and other officials will be accommodating in the visit.

According to the Minister’s Secretariat, he will visit four hundred KV Bhokraha substation and Kerouna substation of Inaruwa during his three-day visit. Similarly, the site of the canal of Barahakshetra Chathara will be visited. He is also scheduled to inspect the Chandra Canal which carries Nepal’s heritage.

Earlier, Minister Shrestha had visited Sudurpaschim, Karnali and Lumbini provinces and understood the problems there.
