Garima Chaudhary’s parents sign 3-point agreement with govt

. The government and the victim’s family have reached a three-point agreement regarding the heinous crime that took place on the murder of three-year-old Garima Chaudhary of Jitpur-Simara Sub-metropolis-1 in Bara district.

The agreement was reached between Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, ministers of the concerned ministries, parents of the victim Garima Chaudhary and government representatives in a meeting held at the Home Ministry on Saturday evening.TAG_OPEN_div_18 As per the agreement, it has been decided to review the provisions of the offence and punishment in the existing laws in the case of heinous crimes and submit a report with suggestions for the formulation of the law within seven days. A seven-member ‘Garima Nyay Sankalpa Samiti’ will be formed by the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs for the same.

Similarly, the Ministry of Infrastructure Development has agreed to take initiative in coordination with the local levels to construct the statue of girl Garima Chaudhary as per the expectation of the victim’s family.TAG_OPEN_div_16 According to the Home Minister’s Secretariat, it was also agreed that the parents of the girl should perform the last rites as per their customs and traditions.

Minister for Home Affairs Sudhan Gurung, Minister for Infrastructure Development Sunil Lamsal, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam, Minister for Women, Children, Gender and Sexual Minority Sita Badi and Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Geeta Chaudhary signed the agreement on behalf of the government.TAG_OPEN_div_14

Chaudhary’s father Manoj Kumar Chaudhary and mother Manmati Chaudhary have signed the agreement on behalf of the victim’s family.TAG_OPEN_div_12 The agreement reached between the government and the victim’s family has pledged to take the judicial process forward and address the demands of the victim’s family.
