Kathmandu. Prime Minister Balendra Shah has held consultations with the federal parliamentarians of the flood-affected areas regarding the situation arising out of the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district.

During the meeting held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar, the meeting focused on the damage caused by floods, the condition of settlements in the coastal areas and the rescue and relief works with federal parliamentarians from Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan.

During the meeting, lawmakers from these constituencies drew the attention of the PM towards the impact on their areas and the steps needed for rescue and relief efforts.

Prior to this, the Prime Minister held a meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management today itself and took a high-level information about the latest situation in the flood-affected areas and the progress of rescue, search and relief works.

During the meeting with the parliamentarians of the flood-affected areas, Prime Minister Shah said that the government was fully committed to the safety and relief of the flood-affected people and that clear instructions have been given to the subordinate bodies to adopt extra alertness in the lower riparian areas and to immediately shift the displaced people to safer places.

The government has intensified search and rescue operations by mobilizing security teams in the flood-hit areas.
