Kathmandu. The water level in the Trishuli River has risen due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district.

According to the Flood Forecasting Section under the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the water level at Trishuli River at Malekhu in Dhading district has crossed the warning level.TAG_OPEN_span_20

The water level in the Trishuli River has reached 10.48 meters, said Binod Parajuli, chief of the Division. The danger level is considered when the water level reaches eight meters in this area.

The water level at the Furke (Malekhu) water measurement centre of the Trishuli River has crossed the warning level due to the flooding in the Bhotekoshi River and is continuously rising.

The locals living in inundation-prone areas near the river have been urged to adopt high alertness as well as the passengers travelling through the Trishuli corridor have been urged to take precautions.

The people living nearby the river have been urged to move towards safer place and follow the notice issued by the local administration and the concerned bodies when the water level in the river is rising.

Probability of rain

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall in and around Rasuwa and Nuwakot from the afternoon today.

According to the Department, search and rescue of people affected by the floods that have already entered Nuwakot via Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa and Dhading may be hampered.

Department’s meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari has said there is a possibility of rainfall in and around Rasuwa and Nuwakot districts, urging the people to stay alert.

“There is a possibility of moderate to heavy rainfall in these districts, which might cause problems in the rescue of the people affected by the Bhotekoshi floods,” he said.
