KATHMANDU: NIC Asia Bank has donated Rs 2.21 crore for the rescue and relief distribution to the people affected by the devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.

The bank has contributed Rs 2.21 crore to the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund (PMLR) and Rs 2.1 crore collected from the bank’s directors and employees.

The bank’s Chairman Ashok Kumar Agrawal and Chief Executive Officer Sujit Kumar Shakya jointly handed over the cheque to the Finance Minister of the Government of Nepal, Dr. Swarnim Wagle.

The flash floods in the Bhotekoshi River on the morning of August 26 have caused a huge loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other areas. The bank said that it has provided the amount to help in relief and rescue operations in the affected areas.
