Kathmandu. An alternative road has been used for the vehicles going out of Kathmandu after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir of Dhading along the Prithvi Highway.

More than half of the 20-meter-long road at Krishnabhir collapsed today after the flood in the Trishuli River eroded the lower part of the road. According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, Ram Shah Path, the traffic movement on the Prithvi Highway has been affected since this morning.

Spokesperson of the Kathmandu Traffic Police Office and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi said that arrangements have been made to operate the vehicles going out of Kathmandu through two alternative routes for the time being. According to him, big vehicles can go to the destination via Kathmandu Byroad-Naubise-Palung-Bhaise, while small vehicles and microbuses can use the Pharping route.

Subedi said that necessary initiatives are being taken to bring the road into operation immediately as the road has been obstructed due to landslide along the Kanti Highway.

He said, “Vehicular movement has been disrupted after the road collapsed at Krishnabhir this morning. We have taken necessary initiatives for the use of alternative roads. Work is also underway to open the blocked Kanti Lokpath. ”

The traffic police have urged drivers and passengers to travel only after understanding the condition of the road as the roads and highways have been blocked due to floods and landslides. The traffic police have requested the people to use the road only after getting the necessary information for safe travel by coordinating with the local administration, police and related bodies.

Meanwhile, Director General of the Department of Roads, Dr. Bijay Jaisi, said that an expert team has been sent from Kathmandu to study the condition of the road that has collapsed in Krishnabhir. After a detailed study of the topography and damage to the road, the repair and reconstruction process will be initiated.
