Association urges Ministry of Foreign Affairs to bring vehicles stranded at Kerung from Tatopani

Kathmandu. Nepal Himalayan Cross-Border Chamber of Commerce and Industry has urged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take initiative to bring back cargo vehicles and driver-helpers stranded at Kerung border point due to floods in Rasuwa through Tatopani transit point.

The association has sent a letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 3, 2083 requesting the government to make arrangements to bring the drivers and helpers of the vehicles and their helpers based in Kerung of China to Nepal via Tatopani border point of Nepal via Nyalam of China.TAG_OPEN_div_21

The association has said that Nepali cargo vehicles and driver-helpers in Kerung should be brought to Nepal through alternative border points as the floods have affected the movement through Kerung-Rasuwagadhi border point.

The association has requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to take necessary initiative and coordination with the Chinese side to facilitate Nepal’s entry into Nepal through Tatopani border point via Nyalam of China.TAG_OPEN_div_17

The association has urged the government to make arrangements to bring the vehicles and driver-helpers stranded at Kerung for a long time through alternative routes, saying more problems may arise in the entrepreneurs and transport sector.TAG_OPEN_div_15

The floods in Rasuwa have damaged the road and infrastructure connecting the Kerung-Rasuwagadhi border point with China, affecting the trade movement between the two countries. In such a situation, the association hopes that the traders will be relieved if arrangements can be made to bring the vehicles stuck at Kerung to Nepal by using the Tatopani border point as an alternative route.
