KATHMANDU: A total of 10,451 people have been rescued from the flood-affected areas of the Bhotkoshi River in Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the Nepal Army has rescued 3,344 Nepalis and 252 foreign nationals. According to the NRA, 15 Chinese and seven Indian nationals were rescued from the hydropower area on August 30 alone.

So far, 411 flights have been conducted for search and rescue in the flood-affected areas. Along with the rescue work, the search for those who have gone missing from the affected areas has also been intensified.

According to NRA Spokesperson Shanti Mahat, 903 bodies have been recovered so far while 4,247 people are still out of contact. Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Nawalparasi East and West, Tanahun and Chitwan have been affected by the floods.

A total of 20,819 security personnel, including 7,894 from Nepal Police, 8,722 from the Nepal Army and 4,203 from the Armed Police Force, have been mobilized for the search and rescue operation, according to the NRA. Distribution of foodstuffs, non-food items, medicines and health materials to the affected people is also underway, said the NRA Spokesperson.
