Kathmandu. The Nepal Police Headquarters has fixed the new route for vehicles plying from Hetauda of Makwanpur district to the federal capital Kathmandu from today, even though the roads including the Prithvi Highway have been obstructed due to flooding in the Bhotekoshi River on August 23.

All goods carriers and large passenger vehicles up to ten wheels have been arranged to go to Kathmandu via Tribhuvan Highway. Vehicles up to ten wheels return to Makwanpur from Kathmandu but return via Kanti Highway.

The Nepal Police Headquarters has made it mandatory for the vehicles heading towards Hetauda via Kanti Highway to cross the Area Police Office, Thingan Check Post by 6:00 pm, keeping in mind the weather and the safety of the passengers.

The Nepal Police Headquarters has fixed the route for Bhimphedi via Pharping-Fakhel-Kulekhani while vehicles with a capacity of less than 14 seats are coming to Hetauda from Kathmandu.

Similarly, on the way to Kathmandu, the route has been fixed to go via Bhimphedi-Kulekhani-Sisneri-Dakshinkali. Due to the weak load carrying capacity of the bailey bridge near Trikhandi of Makwanpur, the fuel and heavy cargo vehicles have made arrangements to go through the adjacent diversion without using the bailey bridge.

The Nepal Police Headquarters has urged all to travel only in emergency situation as it is a time of disaster, to operate vehicles on any highway with patience and discipline only in their turn, not to overtake and to fully comply with the directives of the traffic police.

Meanwhile, various highways across the country have been obstructed due to landslides triggered by the Bhotekoshi floods and incessant rains. According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, the road at Krishna Bhir of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 under the Prithvi Highway has been completely obstructed due to the erosion of the Trishuli river.

Similarly, the lower portion of the road has been completely obstructed due to the flooded Parewabhir at Gajuri Rural Municipality-2 in Dhading.
