Nine bodies swept away by Bhotekoshi floods brought back to Nepal from India

Rupandehi. The bodies of nine people who reached India after being swept away by the flooded Bhotekoshi River have been handed over to Nepal by the Indian security agencies.

The bodies were recovered from Khadda and Padrauna police stations in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India, and were brought to Nepal via Sunauli border point and handed over to the Belahiya Area Police Office in Rupandehi.TAG_OPEN_div_14

The Indian police brought five bodies to Nepal on Tuesday evening and four this afternoon. The bodies brought to Nepal include four women and five men, including a girl. The bodies were sent to Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal after completing the necessary procedures.TAG_OPEN_div_12

According to Sub-Inspector Sanjeev Kumar Maurya of Khadda police station, the bodies were found from the riverbank in Madanpur Sukrauli area near Thakkar No. 3 of the Narayani river. He said that the place is about 35 kilometers away from the Gandak dam area on the Nepal-India border.TAG_OPEN_div_10

The four bodies brought on Wednesday include a girl aged 9 to 12 years, a woman aged 35 to 40, a man aged 40 to 45 and a man aged between 23 and 28 years with ‘Dashrath Jange’ written on his right hand. According to Magistrate Devendra Kumar Yadav of Padrauna police station, the post-mortem was conducted at Panchanama and AIIMS Hospital in Gorakhpur.
