Kathmandu. Sagarmatha Lumbini Insurance Company Limited has pledged to provide Rs 51 lakh to the families affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa.

The meeting of the Board of Directors of the company held on September 1 decided to deposit Rs. 51 lakhs in the Prime Minister Natural Disaster Relief Fund as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Similarly, the employees working in the company have also decided to deposit their one day’s salary collectively in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. According to the company, the employees will contribute about Rs 11 lakh.

The devastating floods in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa on August 23 have caused a huge loss of life and property in Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha and Chitwan among other riverbanks.

The company has said that it is providing this amount to help in the rescue, relief and rehabilitation of the families affected by the floods. The company claims that it has been providing assistance under social responsibility since its inception during natural calamities and various crises.

In addition, the company has said that there is a need for the safe rescue of the flood-affected families and the rehabilitation of the homeless families as soon as possible. The company has also expressed condolences to the bereaved families while paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the floods.
