Kathmandu. The bodies of 1,252 people who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi floods in Rasuwa have been recovered. According to Nepal Police, 127 dead bodies have been recovered in Rasuwa, 177 in Nuwakot, 60 in Dhading, 355 in Chitwan, 69 in Gorkha, 38 in Tanahun, 218 in Nawalparasi East, 190 in Nawalparasi West and 18 in India. The bodies found in the border area of India have been handed over to Nawalparasi West district.

Central Police Spokesperson Abinarayan Kafle said that 95 bodies have been handed over to their relatives so far. A total of 897 bodies, including 213 women, 314 men and 370 unidentified bodies, have been safely managed under the soil after completing the necessary procedures from DNA sample collection to identifying the recovered bodies.

The details of 959 unidentified bodies have been put on the website of Nepal Police. So far, 7,912 police personnel have been deployed for rescue, search, relief distribution and management of dead bodies in the flood-affected areas.

The search for 4,875 people who have gone missing so far is underway. A total of 3,126 people are taking shelter in holding centers in Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts.
