Kathmandu. After the floods in the Bhotekoshi River damaged roads and bridges, 4 alternative roads have been brought into operation. According to the Ministry of Infrastructure Development, efforts are being made to connect Rasuwa-Nuwakot-Dhading.

Similarly, works related to the construction of alternative roads have been accelerated to resume the Galchhi-Trishuli Highway and several bridges over the Trishuli River which were disrupted due to floods in the Trishuli River.

The Road Division Nuwakot has brought alternative roads into operation in different places to ease transportation in the flood-affected areas.

The Road Division Nuwakot, which also looks after Rasuwa and Dhading, has been continuously carrying out works like opening the road, removing landslides, constructing culverts, improving the road surface and placing gravel in view of the emergency. According to the Road Division Nuwakot, four alternative roads have been brought into operation so far.

A 15-km alternative road has been brought into operation from Master of the Prithvi Highway to Dhadingbesi via Keurinitar, Belintar, Adamtar, Pipaltar, Gajuritar, Nepaltar and Parewatar via Trishuli Bridge.

The road is expected to ease the movement of the affected residents, especially in Galchhi and Siddhalek areas of Dhading. A 40-km-long alternative road has been brought into operation to connect the area across the Trishuli River to the transport network.

Vehicular movement has been allowed from Galchhi-Trishuli Highway to Kalleritar, Koshikhola, Pimaltar, Darshantar, Chhatrekhola, Gauribesi, Trishuli Bazaar and Kispang rural municipality on the right side of the river.

Siddhalek of Dhading and Tarkeshwar, Bidur and Meghang areas of Nuwakot have been affected by this alternative route. Similarly, about 35 kilometers of road has been opened as an alternative to the damage to the Tadi River bridge at Devighat.

According to the Road Division, four-wheelers have been brought into operation through Pipaltar-Dhamle-Niranjana-Baghkhor-Harre-Deurali-Kolputar road. This road has provided alternative access to the residents of Bidur and Belkotgadhi areas of Nuwakot.

After the damage to the Trishuli to Betrawati highway, another alternative route has been brought into operation to maintain transport access in Rasuwa district. About 12 kilometers of the Nuwakot section from Dhikure to Phedi, Besi Chowk, Hiramuntar, Chogate, Borebhanjyang, Sano Khola, Dhanswara, Bhorle, Jibjibe and Bogatitar of the Mid-Hill Highway has been made operational.

This alternative route will mainly connect the Bidur and Suryagadhi areas of Nuwakot. The Road Division Nuwakot has continued the work of opening the road and making the traffic accessible by mobilizing various equipment in view of the emergency situation arising out of the floods.

According to the Division, works like removing landslides, constructing culverts, improving road surface and laying gravel are going on.

The operation of alternative roads is expected to ease the local and essential movement at a time when regular transportation has been affected in different parts of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts after floods in the Trishuli River damaged the main roads and bridges.
