KATHMANDU: Nepal Vegetable Ghee Oil Producers’ Association has pledged to provide Rs 10.1 million to Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan and eastern Nawalparasi districts due to floods caused by floods in China.
The NRNA has said that a large number of people have lost their lives and disappeared as well as suffered injuries as well as caused extensive damage to houses, property and public infrastructures.
The association said that the government should take effective steps as soon as possible to provide immediate relief, treatment and necessary assistance to the affected families. The association has also said that special attention should be paid to the long-term rehabilitation and infrastructure construction of the affected areas.
As part of its social responsibility, the association and its member industries have decided to contribute Rs 1.01 crore to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund. Accordingly, the president of the association, Vikas Dugad, along with other members of the association, handed over a cheque of the assistance amount to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle.
The association has stressed on the need to cooperate with national unity, social cooperation and humanitarian spirit in this sensitive time of disaster. The association has pledged to continue to engage in cooperative work under social responsibility in the coming days as well.
The association is of the view that sensitivity, active initiatives and cooperation of all concerned including the government are necessary to expedite the rehabilitation and infrastructure construction of the affected people and areas.
