Kathmandu. The Manaslu trekking route has been blocked due to floods. The trekking route has been blocked due to flooding in Budhigandaki and Therang rivers under the Manaslu Conservation Area this morning.

Assistant Chief District Officer Netra Prasad Sharma said that two bridges have been washed away by the floods. He said that the District Administration Office has banned the Manaslu trekking route and Larke Pass travel until further notice.

“Those who are preparing for the journey or those who are in the journey are requested not to travel until further notice,” said a notice issued by the district administration.

Two bridges and two hydropower projects have been swept away by the floods of Budhigandaki and Therang rivers at Namrung of Chumnubri Rural Municipality-4 in northern Gorkha. Assistant CDO Sharma said that no human loss has been reported so far due to the floods.

Lakpa Dundup, a local of Namrung, said that the floods swept away the bridge, affecting the locals as well as tourists. “The floods and landslides put us in trouble. The bridge going down from the village was also washed away. We couldn’t go anywhere,” he said.

After the two micro-hydropower projects were washed away, lights, communication services and all electricity services have been affected. According to the data of the Department of Tourism, 348 climbers of 29 teams have taken permission to climb Mt Manaslu in the autumn season of this year.

So far, 367 climbers of 32 teams have taken permission from the department to climb the mountain in the autumn season, out of which 348 climbers of 29 teams have climbed for Manaslu alone. After the bridge was swept away, the tourist movement of Manaslu, which was just beginning, will be affected. Hundreds of tourists who went to Larke Pass have been stranded due to the lack of a bridge over the Budhigandaki.
