Kathmandu. The work of connecting electricity to the flooded Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa has gained momentum.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the restoration of power services disrupted due to the Rasuwa floods has been intensified. The ministry had started the electrification work by mobilizing all resources and manpower as far as possible from the next day of the devastating floods on August 10.

At a time when the devastating floods have caused huge damage to the power infrastructure, the ministry has expedited the electrification by adopting alternative measures. Meanwhile, power supply has been restored in flood-hit Bidur Municipality-10 and 11 of Nuwakot district on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, about 83 percent of the electricity service has been restored in Rasuwa and about 95 percent in Nuwakot so far. Similarly, the work of distributing solar systems of two kilowatt capacity to the community shelters and to the households as per the need has also been forwarded through the Alternative Energy Promotion Center in the areas where electricity service is not reaching.

Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) staffers and technical team and Alternative Energy Promotion Centre (AEPC) are actively working for electrification of the flood-affected areas.
