Landslide of Tuil Khola being ‘nailed’ by removing big boulders

Chitwan. The Road Division Office has been working to solve the problem in the long term by adopting special technology after the landslide in Tuil Khola along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section has not stopped.
TAG_OPEN_div_19 Since last year, preparations have been made to adopt ‘nailing’ technology by removing big boulders and making slopes of the cliffs after the problem of landslides and road blockages was seen not only in the rainy season but also in winter. The Road Division Bharatpur has said that horizontal drain and bioengineering (biological) technology will be used to drain out the leaky water along with the nailing.
Narayan Prasad Lamichhane, chief engineer of the Road Division Bharatpur, said that the work of removing the big boulders falling from above the Tuil River is going on. He said, “The work of cutting and throwing away the big boulders from above is going on for the last seven days. At present, very few people are working in some difficult places. We are preparing to start the work by mobilizing more manpower and equipment after cutting and removing the big stones.TAG_OPEN_div_17 ”
According to him, the landslide prevention work to be done at Tuin Khola will mainly use nailing technology. He said that according to the nature of the slope, the measures of landslide prevention will be adopted through bioengineering using two-dimensional and three-dimensional rate.TAG_OPEN_div_15
Now the work of making a slope by cutting the slope by cutting the cliffs of the landslide is being done. After that, ‘nailing’ technology will be adopted in the area, said engineer Lamichhane. He said that ‘horizontal drain’ will also be managed to drain out the water as the frozen and leaky water in the landslide area weakens the geography. He said, “Mainly nailing technology will be used here. Depending on the condition of the slope, there is a plan to use dimensional net and give priority to bioengineering.” ”
Engineer Lamichhane said that the work of nailing will be completed within a month and there will be no situation of obstruction of the road after removing the big boulders. Vehicular traffic is allowed on the section from 8:30 am to 6 pm for only half an hour during every two hours. Vehicles are operating continuously from 6 pm to 8 am.TAG_OPEN_div_11
