New track at Krishnabhir in final stage: Traffic to resume from September 1

Chitwan. The construction of a new track has reached the final stage after the road was completely blocked due to a landslide at Krishnabhir along the Prithvi Highway.

On Sunday, the cutting of the wall and the repair of the road were completed and some vehicles were allowed to ply on a trial basis. After the success of the test, the operation of regular vehicles has been intensified.

Engineer Ishwar Nepal of the construction company responsible for the construction of the new track said that the construction work has reached the final stage. According to him, graveling, slope cutting and drainage construction work is going on on the 11th day today.TAG_OPEN_div_20

He said, “We are probably going to start the work so that the traffic will be fully operational from September 17.” According to him, 11-12 equipment was deployed for 9 to 10 days in the first phase of construction. Now that the work is in the final stage, about 40-50 skilled and unskilled workers have been mobilized. Five to six heavy equipment, including graders, rollers and excavators, are being used as per the requirement.TAG_OPEN_div_18

At present, graveling is being done on the new track using the sediment of the river. He said that the work of constructing a drain at the corner of the road and laying a pipe and wrapping it is being done to construct a tank drain on top. He said that after the construction of the final layer of the sub-base, the road will be ready for traffic operation. He said that a seven-and-a-half-meter structure has been constructed on the new track of about 300 meters long.

} He said, “This section is a bit risky. If there is no more landslide, the traffic will be resumed on time.” Engineer Sachendra Mishra, information officer of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Project (West Section), said that the finishing work is underway after the grading of the new track was completed on Sunday. He said that only some vehicles were passed for testing on Sunday and now the new track is completely closed.

Some vehicles were passed only for testing,” he said, adding that if there is no further problem, the plan is to complete all the construction work by September 15 and operate vehicles from the new track regularly.
