Kathmandu. Singer Ramchandra Chand has won the Best Folk Singer (Audience’s Choice) Award at the ‘3rd National Opsna Music Award-2026’. He has achieved this success with his famous song ‘Mayalu Kai Naumma’.

Opsana Films Pvt. Ltd. The award was presented to Chand in a program organized on Sunday. Born in Madane Aglung of Gulmi, Ramchandra Chand is a well-known name in the field of Nepali folk music. Ramchandra, the son of father Bhisun Chand and mother Meena Kumari Chand, currently lives in Baneshwor, Kathmandu from Gulmi. Although he is active in the field of music, he has given equal importance to his education. He has obtained a master’s degree in sociology and anthropology.

Ramchandra, who has been involved in the singing field for a long time, has released dozens of songs. His published works and songs include popular songs such as ‘Maya Sarai Chha’, ‘Chari Rukhma’, ‘Mayalukai Nauma’, ‘Man Shanti’, ‘Bee Jaijai’, ‘Bhirma Rudai Chhu’, ‘Ghati Retnalai’, ‘Tin Furke Dori Ho’, ‘Maina’, ‘Kailash Pati Shivaji’, ‘Kholi Niuro’, ‘Sori Piliz Sori’, and ‘Dai Lahure Bhai Lahure’.

In recognition of his contribution to the field of music, Ramchandra has received various honors and awards. He has received the ‘Nur Ganga Established Kshatriya Lumbini Zonal Level Folk Singing Award’. Similarly, he won the Best Folk Duet Singer Award at the ‘Bindwasini Music Award 2080’ and the Best Folk Singer Award at the ‘Music Khabar Music Award 2081’.

He has also received the Best Folk Duet Singer Award at Himalaya International Award 2078, Bishal Movies Folk Singer Award of the Year at the ‘Third National Bishal Lumbini Award 2080’ and the Dashain Tihar Festival Award 2080 organized by Active Music Pvt. Ltd.

He is also busy on musical tours to introduce Nepali folk music. He has been to Bahrain, Qatar, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and the UAE to perform his music.
