Kathmandu. The government has spent about Rs 200 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year 2083/84.

According to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, the total expenditure of the government as of mid-August is Rs 199.83 billion. This is 9.41 percent of the annual target.

According to the office, the government has so far spent 9.6 per cent of the budget on the current head. The budget allocated for the current fiscal year was Rs 1,270.58 billion, out of which Rs 122.03 billion was spent till mid-August.

Likewise, only Rs 7.66 billion or 1.78 per cent of the annual target has been spent so far out of the allocated Rs 431.10 billion under the capital head.

The budget expenditure under the head of financial management so far is 16.59 percent. Under this head, the budget expenditure of Rs 422.64 billion has been allocated for the current fiscal year and Rs 70.13 billion has been spent till the end of August.

During this period, the income is less than the government’s expenditure. The total revenue collection till the end of August is 11.58 percent of the annual target i.e. 190.10 billion 79 million. In the last two months alone, the expenditure is about 9.72 billion more than the government’s income.

Against the government’s target of collecting a total of Rs 1403.31 billion for the current fiscal year, Rs 172.42 billion has been collected till mid-September. Similarly, the government’s target of collecting Rs 177 billion in non-tax revenue has been collected by 6.9 percent or Rs 10.77 billion so far.

According to the office, the government has received 8.96 per cent or Rs 5.53 billion in foreign direct assistance against the target of Rs 61.74 billion for the current fiscal year.
