Gandaki. Hotels and restaurants in Pokhara have come up with a discount scheme targeting the Dubai-Pokhara-Dubai direct flight that Flydubai will start from next Wednesday.

In order to attract passengers and tourists on inter-country flights from Pokhara International Airport, discount facilities have been provided in hotels and restaurants. Laxman Subedi, president of Hotel Association Pokhara, said that for the first three months, passengers and tourists coming from Fly Dubai will be given 25 percent discount in hotels in Pokhara. “So far, 50 hotels have been included in the discount scheme, this number will be increased further,” he said, “Among those offering discounts are tourist-quality hotels of Pokhara, including some star hotels.” ”

He said that passengers coming from Dubai to Pokhara from the first flight on Wednesday evening will be given free accommodation for one night and breakfast the next day. Subedi said that the discount scheme was introduced for three months in the first phase, but it could be extended later. “The discount scheme has been brought keeping in mind the responsibility of the hoteliers to make the Pokhara-Dubai flight regular and sustainable,” he said.

The Restaurant and Bar Association of Pokhara (REBAN) has also announced that passengers coming to Pokhara from Fly Dubai will be given a discount of 15 to 20 percent at the restaurants affiliated to the organization. Basanta Gautam, president of REBAN, said that the discount facility will be given to the passengers÷tourists who come with the ‘Boarding Pass’ of Fly Dubai. “The discount scheme will be applicable for three months and it can be increased later depending on the situation,” he said, adding that everyone’s cooperation is needed to make the flight from Pokhara sustainable and successful. ”

Pom Narayan Shrestha, former president of Pokhara Tourism Council, said that other tourism entrepreneurs of Pokhara are also coming up with discount schemes targeting Fly Dubai flights. “Preparations are underway to make an integrated discount package and make it public through the app,” he said, adding, “We are working together to make Pokhara-Dubai flights sustainable and effective.” ”

Pokhara Tourism Council, Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) Gandaki and other tourism-related organizations have also stepped up their activism. Flydubai is going to operate flights shortly after the government said it would take diplomatic initiatives to attract international airlines to Pokhara International Airport in the policy and program of the current fiscal year.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had given permission to Fly Dubai for the Dubai-Pokhara-Dubai flight on June 9. According to the flight schedule, the plane will land at Pokhara International Airport at 6:15 pm on Wednesday. Binod Singh Rawat, information officer of the airport, said that the plane will take passengers from Pokhara and take off for Dubai at 7:15 pm the same day.

The Pokhara-Dubai flight service will be operated under the strategic codeshare partnership between Flydubai and Emirates Airlines. Passengers from Pokhara to Australia, Europe or American cities will be able to travel with a single ticket and there will be no hassle while reaching the destination.

The codeshare partnership between the airlines will facilitate the transit of passengers. Passengers going from Pokhara to other countries via Dubai will be able to travel with a single ticket. After a long wait, the tourism entrepreneurs of this area are excited as regular inter-country flights are going to be started from Pokhara.

The tourism sector of the country will be directly benefited from this flight connecting the tourist capital Pokhara to the international air network. Government agencies and the private sector have been taking initiatives in marketing and promotion to operate this flight in a sustainable manner. Initially, Flydubai announced that it will operate only once a day for a month, but the bookings are open till March 26, 2027.
