Kathmandu. The Lalbandi-Salempur 132 kV double circuit transmission line from Nawalpur substation in Lalbandi Municipality-1 of Sarlahi district to Chainpura of Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-7 has come into operation.

The 132-33-11 kV substation constructed in Chainpura under the Lalbandi-Salempur 132 kV transmission line project has also come into operation. The substation has two power transformers of 132-33 kV, 30 MVA capacity and one power transformer of 33-11 kV and 24 MVA capacity. With this, the total capacity of the substation is 84 MVA. Five feeders of 33 kV and 6 feeders of 11 kV have been taken out from the substation for distribution in the local areas.

With the operation of the transmission line and substation, it is expected that the supply of electricity to Malangawa, Haripur, Haripurwa, Dumariya, Barhathawa and other areas of Sarlahi will be more reliable and qualitative. This will reduce power leakage and reduce the problems of low voltage and frequent tripping. It will also help in managing the increasing demand for electricity in the local area and further strengthening the supply system.

Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha said that the NEA has given high priority to providing reliable and quality electricity service to the customers with adequate voltage. He said that the works of expanding and strengthening the infrastructure of the transmission and distribution system of electricity have been taken forward in a planned manner.

The contract for the construction of about 20 kilometers of transmission line and substation was signed in April 2022 at a cost of Rs 1.12 billion. The contract agreement was implemented from April 2080. The project was constructed with the investment of the Government of Nepal and the Nepal Electricity Authority.
