KATHMANDU: Iran has said it plans to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the necessary conditions are met.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi told reporters at the UN headquarters in New York on Friday that Qatar had presented a concrete plan to open the strait to the US within seven days.

According to him, the seven-day deadline will begin once the US accepts the proposal. According to the plan, the US will have to take some necessary steps, which may take four to five days. He said that the strait will be opened on the sixth day and negotiations for the final agreement between the US and Iran will begin on the seventh day.

According to Foreign Minister Araghchi, the necessary steps to be taken by the US are not new but included in the memorandum of understanding signed by the heads of state of the two countries in June.

He said the United States had completed all preparations if it was serious about signing the deal and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

“Iran will not accept any forms of pressure, intimidation or intimidation, and will not compromise its sovereign rights under pressure,” he said.

On June 18, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to end the ongoing war on all fronts of the region, including Lebanon. According to this, it was decided to negotiate within 60 days for the final agreement. But the status of the talks is still unclear due to the escalation of tensions between the two countries.
