Efforts underway to restore power supply in flood-hit areas of Pyuthan

{{TAG_OPEN_div_30}Kathmandu. The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has intensified the repair and rehabilitation works in various affected areas affected by floods and landslides.

The 33 KV transmission line being supplied from Arghakhanchi in Pyuthan district is likely to come into operation by 7 pm today. After the operation of this line, power supply is expected to resume in most areas of the district including the Pyuthan district headquarters.

Similarly, the re-restringing of the broken conductor of the Lamahi-Jhimruk 132 kV transmission line is underway at Murkuti of Dang. The NEA has said that it is difficult to repair the work due to rain in the area. The line is likely to be operational by 10 pm today.TAG_OPEN_div_26

With the operation of the 132 KV transmission line, power supply to Pyuthan district is expected to resume and supply to eastern parts of the district including Liwang, the headquarters of Rolpa.TAG_OPEN_div_24

A technical team has been mobilized since early morning to restore power supply in Holeri in the western part of Rolpa. In one place, five span conductors have collapsed along with poles in one place while trees have broken wires along with poles in four other places. The damaged structures are being repaired and the target is to restore power supply in the area by tomorrow.

Similarly, the transmission line leading to Thawang of Rolpa has been comparatively badly damaged. It has taken time for a team of technicians and staff to reach the affected areas as the road has been blocked. The NEA has said that the full details of the damage caused in the area are yet to be received.TAG_OPEN_div_20

The power line from Salyan to Salyan in Rukum East has been disrupted in the area under Salyan Distribution Center. Preliminary information has been received that the poles have been washed away due to the landslide. Work has been started to restore the power supply in the area by tomorrow.

Currently, electricity is being supplied to Rukumkot, the district headquarters of East Rukumkot, from the local Rapti Hydro.TAG_OPEN_div_16
