Jhapa. Mechi Customs Office, Kakarbhitta has collected revenue of Rs 2.83 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year.

The office had set a target of collecting a total revenue of Rs 3.07 billion for the months of July and August. It was said that 92.14 percent of the set target was collected from the revenue.

According to the office, out of the target of Rs 1.43 billion in July, Rs 1.27 billion was collected. In August, out of the target of Rs 1.64 billion, Rs 1.55 billion was collected.

According to the office, there has been an improvement in revenue collection in August compared to July. The revenue collection in August was 89.19 percent of the target, which has increased to 94.73 percent in August.

According to Shivalal Neupane, Chief Customs Officer of the Mechi Customs Office, the revenue collection in the same period of the current fiscal year has increased by 9.43 percent compared to the same period of the fiscal year 2082/83. In August last year, the revenue was collected at Rs 1.36 billion.

Gradual improvement in cross-border trade and tightening of customs administration have made positive impact on revenue collection, said Neupane, Chief Customs Officer.
