Trump suggests Ukraine should elect new president, blames Zelensky for rising diesel prices

Kathmandu. US President Donald Trump has accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of not doing enough to end the war with Russia and said that Ukraine needs a new president. He also blamed Zelensky for the rise in diesel prices in the United States.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Trump said that Ukraine should find a new leadership that can compromise with Russia. According to him, Zelensky has many opportunities to end the war, but he has not been able to use those opportunities.

On Friday, Trump signed an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin to buy diesel from Russia. The agreement, aimed at controlling rising fuel prices in the United States, has been made public ahead of the upcoming midterm elections. This is seen as a significant change in US policy towards Russia.

Trump claimed that Ukraine’s attack on Russia’s energy infrastructure has increased the problem of fuel supply in the global market. He said that such activities are affecting American farmers, ranchers and other businesses.

The increase in the price of diesel in the US can increase the cost of operating agricultural machinery, transporting goods, and business activities. Therefore, the increase in the price of fuel has also become a challenge for the US economy.

However, the news report states that the activities of Ukraine are not the only ones responsible for the increase in diesel prices. Due to the war related to Iran, it has become difficult to supply oil from the Middle East to the international market. This has increased the price of crude oil and petroleum products in the world market.

Ukraine and Europe’s dissatisfaction with the agreement with Russia

Ukrainian and European officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the deal between Trump and Putin on the purchase of diesel. They worry that Russia could use the proceeds from the sale of fuel to wage war against Ukraine.

After Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the US and its European allies imposed various economic sanctions on Russia. In such a situation, the decision of the US to buy diesel from Russia is seen as a policy change.

Trump’s claims about the war

Trump has claimed that if he had been the US President in 2022, the Russia-Ukraine war would not have started. He said that the reason for the start of the war was the incompetence of the leadership.

However, Trump’s statements about responsibility for the war are his political views. The fact that Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 is an important background to this controversy.

Meanwhile, the survey, conducted by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, was released on Oct. 1. According to the survey, many Americans blame Trump for rising prices and express dissatisfaction with his policies on Iran.

Trump has increased pressure on Ukraine to end the war and blamed Zelensky for the increase in diesel prices. But the disruption of global oil supplies and the war in the Middle East are also important reasons for fuel prices. The U.S. decision to buy diesel from Russia has sparked further debate about energy markets, the economic side of the war, and U.S.-Ukraine relations.
