Kathmandu. The flood in the Budhi Gandaki River in Gorkha has damaged four hydropower projects. Projects with a capacity of 441.09 MW have been affected by the floods.
As per the preliminary information, the floods have damaged the project camp area, construction equipment, bailey bridge, access road and bridges.
The flood has swept away the main camp area of the 341 MW Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project and also swept away some construction equipment. The flood has caused physical damage to this project being promoted by Times Energy Pvt. Ltd.
Similarly, 24. Some houses in the camp area of the 5 MW Dovan Khola Hydropower Project have been damaged and the bailey bridge of the project has been washed away.
30. The bailey bridge of the 59 MW Yaru Khola Hydropower Project has also been damaged. According to preliminary details, the floods have affected the infrastructure of the project, which is being promoted by Yaru Hydro Power Pvt. Ltd.
Similarly, construction materials and equipment of the 16 MW Machha Khola Hydropower Project have been washed away. Access roads and bridges to the project site have also been damaged. The project is being promoted by Water Energy Development Pvt. Ltd.
Details of the impact of the floods on the construction work and infrastructure of the projects are awaited. It is expected that after the full details of the damage are collected, there will be more clarity on the impact of the reconstruction and the operation of the project.
