In this context, the work of blacktopping the old blacktop has been started in the Banepa market area for the past few days. The contract was signed by dividing the 16-km road section from Suryabinayak to Dhulikhel of Bhaktapur into two sections under the six-lane work.

According to the agreement signed on December 12, 2009 for the expansion of the eight-kilometer road from Sanga-Dhulikhel to Dhulikhel, the deadline was to be completed on December 11, 2082. Lama Construction Pvt. Ltd. had taken the contract for Rs 4.05 billion for this purpose, but only 60 percent of the work was completed within the stipulated time.

TAG_OPEN_div_27 According to the project, there has been little progress due to the delay in the contract agreement for the expansion of the road towards Bhaktapur. Mahato said that the first layer of the first layer of the three-and-a-half-kilometer road towards Kavrepalanchowk has been blacktopped in six lanes so far.

} “Out of the 7.9 km road from Sanga to Dhulikhel, the first layer of blacktop has been done on six and a half kilometers of four lanes and now only one and a half kilometers of road towards Kavre is left to be blacktopped,” Mahato said. The project said that the main work will be completed within the stipulated time if there is no problem as the agreement with the contractor of Sanga-Dhulikhel section is till December 7.

According to the project, the work of the side structure from Suryabinayak to Sanga has almost been completed so far. Mahato said that the first blacktop of the one-and-a-half-kilometer road in Bhaktapur has been completed in six-lane, while the first level of blacktopping has been done on the two-lane one-lane road in the underpass of Sanga. A contract agreement was signed with Ashish Kumar Shrestha-Bandhan-Bhagawati JV for Rs 3.88 billion in 2079 BS for the construction of 7.3 kilometers Suryabinayak-Sanga road.TAG_OPEN_div_21

Mahato said that the construction company can complete the main work within the deadline and complete all the work of the road by July 2084 by adding some time for the remaining work. Although the work of expanding the road from Suryabinayak to Dhulikhel has gained momentum since last month, there are some problems in the operation of traffic due to the lack of bridges over Jagati Khola, Mahadev Khola and Punyamata Khola under the highway. As cargo vehicles ply at night in these places, there are potholes and traffic jams at the places where the bridges are constructed.TAG_OPEN_div_19
