Bunnyi. KATHMANDU: Goods worth Rs 16 billion were imported from Kakarbhitta in the first four months of the current fiscal year, while exports amounted to Rs 8 billion.
Goods worth Rs 16.02 billion were imported from mid-July to mid-November of the current fiscal year 2082/83, according to Ishwar Kumar Humagain, information officer at the Mechi Customs Office.
Compared to the same period last year, imports increased by 12.12 percent while exports decreased by 4.12 percent. According to the office, goods worth Rs 8.96 billion were exported in the first four months of the current fiscal year. Nepal had exported goods worth Rs 8.30 billion in the same period last year.
The office collected Rs 5.46 billion in revenue from import and export in the first four months of the current fiscal year. Nepal collected Rs 5.33 billion in revenue from import and Rs 123.46 million from export. Revenue collection has increased by 15.66 percent to Rs 73,94,75,000.
Exports of cardamom, veneer sheet, dog and cat÷food, ginger, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, lentils, lentils, among others, increased while exports of petroleum products increased while exports of tea and plywood, plywood, mango and iron sheet decreased.
Cardamom exports have doubled. Cardamom worth Rs 3.97 billion was exported to the country. This is an increase of 109.2 percent or 2.07 billion rupees compared to the same period last year. Tea exports have fallen by almost one-third. Tea worth Rs 1.37 billion was exported in the first four months of the current fiscal year. This is a decrease of 37 percent in the same period the previous year.
Plywood exports decreased by 52.7 percent. Nepal exported plywood worth Rs 1.25 billion till mid-November of the last fiscal year while only Rs 595 million was exported in the same period of the current fiscal year. This is a decrease of Rs 66.22 crore compared to the previous fiscal year.
Similarly, the export of veneer seats increased by 135.8 percent. In the last fiscal year, exports amounted to Rs. 386.26 million compared to Rs. 164.512 million in the last fiscal year. The price of jute has increased by Rs 22 crore 17 lakh 68 thousand compared to the previous year.
The export of dog and cat food has increased by 33 percent. According to the Mechi Customs Office, dog and cat food worth Rs 379.9 million was exported in the first four months of the current fiscal year.
Amriso exports declined by 23.9 percent. Amriso worth Rs 26.25 crore has been exported. Ginger exports increased by 3.2 percent. Ginger worth Rs 24.24 million has been exported. Exports of cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli increased by 36.1 percent. According to the office’s data, the export of cauliflower, cabbage and broccoli amounted to Rs 113.19 million in the current fiscal year.
On the other hand, the export of lentils has increased substantially. According to the office, the export of lentils has increased by 481 percent. Lentils worth Rs 91.2 million have been exported through this market. In the same period last year, lentils worth Rs 15.7 million were exported.
According to the office, only 3 crore 78 lakh 83 thousand rupees worth of iron sheets were exported in the current fiscal year. Exports of iron sheets decreased by 97.3 percent.
