Kathmandu. The International Civil Aviation Day is being marked across the globe today with the slogan ‘Safe Skies’. The International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated especially in the member countries of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

The International ICAO Day was celebrated on December 7, 1994, the 50th anniversary of the establishment of ICAO. Two years later, the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized the day.

ICAO’s contribution to the social and economic development of various countries of the world and ICAO’s role in building a global rapid transportation network to ease the journey of mankind is remembered on this day.

ICAO stated that the relevance of this day has increased further as air service is the major medium to connect different countries of the world in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030.
