Rasuwa. Laboratory testing of construction materials has been started in the district to ensure the quality of under-construction roads and infrastructures in the district. The District Infrastructure Development Office has implemented this system by installing modern testing equipment in Dhunche. It is believed that the road construction in the district would be sustainable, reliable and useful in the future.

According to the office, scientific testing of construction materials including pebbles, base, gravel and blacktop can be carried out through the installed equipment. Earlier, they had to depend on outside districts for such tests. It is said that both transparency and quality in the construction process will increase once the test is possible in the district itself.

Office Chief Rabin Maharjan said that five skilled technicians have been deputed for the testing of equipment, adding that a situation has surfaced where the construction company or consumer committee would not be able to compromise on the quantity or quality of materials after the installation of equipment. According to him, a pond has also been constructed to wet the materials required for testing, which has made the laboratory fully operational.

The office established in August 2081 BS has made remarkable progress in a short span of time. According to the office, 3.365 kms of new track, 3.478-km road construction, 10.638-km road blacktopping and gravel of 20.47-km road have been completed. These achievements reflect the efficiency of the office and the activeness of the technical team.

Locals have expressed hope that the quality infrastructure development would make Rasuwa a model district. The technical team has also given priority to field study on what kind of infrastructure is required in which area, the office said.

This initiative has further boosted the morale of the technicians. With the introduction of the quality test system, the roads and structures to be constructed in Rasuwa district are believed to be more durable, safe and reliable.
