Kathmandu. Chief of CPN-UML’s Publicity and Publication Department Niraj Acharya has said that the budget proposed by the government is more illusion than reality.

He made the comments while posting his statement on social media Facebook.

He said that the new budget of Rs 21.24 trillion proposed by the government was challenging for the common people despite the slogan of financial reforms. “Adding 3 per cent equity charge in basic sectors like education and health in the name of increasing revenue and 5 per cent VAT on electricity consumption above 50 units is highly contradictory. `

According to Acharya, this will directly hit the middle and poor people who are forced to depend on the private sector due to the poor condition of government service.

He said that although customs rate adjustment has been mentioned in agriculture and industry, the budget would not be able to speed up immediately due to lack of concrete infrastructure and capital expenditure.

He also said that although efforts have been made to attract youths by giving tax exemption in the information technology sector, the budget has not included concrete and reliable plan to create employment for the majority of unskilled and semi-skilled youths of the countries who migrate to the Gulf and Malaysia.

He said that the budget will further shrink the middle class and will not be able to address the main crisis of youth migration.
