. Former Finance Minister Surendra Pandey has said that some positive provisions have been incorporated in the budget for the current fiscal year. Speaking at a post-budget program organized by Management Association of Nepal (MAN) here today, he said that increasing the limit of third party insurance from Rs 500,000 to Rs 10 lakh, concession in apartment purchase and bringing a law related to debt recovery are positive steps.
Pointing out the need of the government to pay special attention to controlling the price rise, Pandey argued that it was not appropriate to impose additional tax instead of encouraging those who consume more electricity.TAG_OPEN_div_6 He was of the view that increasing investment in the agriculture, energy, tourism and technology sectors would help boost economy. Similarly, former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun said that the government’s target of economic growth rate could not be achieved even if it is difficult to achieve. According to him, the budget has not been presented as per the expectations of the people.
