Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Punam Kumari Agrawal drew the attention of the government to minimise the economic and physical loss caused by the establishment of new industries and the exit of industries from the Special Economic Zone (SEZ).

Speaking at the special hour of the House of Representatives today, she stressed the need to create a legal environment where the industry could exit easily by ending the land lease agreement if the industry fails successful in the special economic zone as it requires huge investment to operate industries in the special economic zone.

Agrawal said, “With the expiry of the agreement, we have to sell important machines and other tools at the price of scrap in order to manage the physical infrastructure, while on the other hand, it takes a long time and a lot of money to establish a new industry.” ”

In such a situation, she drew the attention of the government to make legal provisions to provide new industries willing to acquire plots without demolishing the physical structures of the industries.

He said that this would remove the compulsion of industries leaving the SEZ to sell their physical infrastructure as scrap and avoid additional financial burden.

Lawmaker Agrawal said that the government needs to pay attention to the time and extra cost required to build the infrastructure when the new industries are made ready.
