Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of NADA Auto Show, Shrestha said that it was for the first time in his lifetime that he had seen so much disappointment among industrialists and entrepreneurs. Stating that the confidence of industrialists and entrepreneurs was weakening in recent period, he called on the government to encourage the private sector.

Stating that import of vehicles is increasing in Nepal, he said attention should be paid to manufacture vehicles within the country. “Import of vehicles is increasing in Nepal, why not produce it in the country now?” he questioned.

Shrestha accused the government of not paying enough attention to the condition of the industries operating in Nepal. He said that although there was discussion to reopen the old industries, the government should pay equal attention to the condition of the existing and newly opened industries.

He commented that the government was creating another problem when it was trying to solve one problem. “The government is trying to find out what fell from the pocket,” he said.

Shrestha said that the government should bring clear policies, investment-friendly environment and necessary incentives to boost the morale of industrialists and entrepreneurs.
