Bhotekoshi floods: 191 rescued from tunnel of hydropower project

Kathmandu. Rasuwa: A total of 191 people trapped in the tunnels of under-construction hydropower projects in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli districts due to the devastating floods in Rasuwa district have been rescued today.

The engineers, technicians and workers trapped in the tunnel were rescued by a team of Nepal Army and shifted to a safe place by helicopter. According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the NA rescued 900 people, including 56 foreigners, from Timure, Syafrubesi and Mailung areas of Rasuwa from this morning till noon.TAG_OPEN_div_21

Since August 26, 2,101 people have been rescued by land and air. According to the army, relief materials have been transported from Kathmandu to Trishuli by land and helicopters.

A total of TAG_OPEN_div_17 561 people, including 456 in Trishuli and 105 in Dhunche, have been provided health services to a total of 561 people today. So far, 1,706 people have been provided health services from these centers, according to the Army.

More than TAG_OPEN_div_15 6,700 army personnel have been deployed in the affected districts for search and rescue, emergency treatment and distribution of relief materials to the injured.

On Saturday, the army said that it will continue to support the search and management of dead bodies on the river banks, continue emergency treatment, and search and rescue operations in Mailung, Timure and Syaphrubesi areas. Military forces will be deployed to search and rescue people who are out of contact in the tunnels in the flood-affected areas and to clear the blocked roads.
