Flood risk persists in Bhotekoshi river

Kathmandu. The Flood Forecasting Division under the Hydrology and Water Resources Research Center has said that there is a risk of flooding in the Bhotekoshi area of Rasuwa.

Although the water level in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers is normal at present, there is a risk of the lake bursting due to the blockage of the river in the upper region, so people have urged people to pay attention to their early warning as there is a risk of the lake forming due to the blockage of the river in the upper region.

Flood expert at the Division, Binod Parajuli, informed RSS that the lake formed after the river blocked the area where the floods took place on August 26 and the lake is likely to burst.

“The lake formed by the blockage of the river is increasing and there is a risk of it breaking. If the lake bursts, there is a risk of flash floods in the lower riparian areas due to the flow of stones, mud and mud along with the water again,” he said. “We will issue a warning if the risk of flooding increases.” ”

The Division has urged the people living along the lower bank of the Bhotekoshi, passengers and people assigned for rescue to stay away from the river banks and other risky areas in safer places until further notice.
