KATHMANDU: Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) has decided to provide Rs 50 lakh to the people affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa district.

NAIMA has said that the amount will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund. Expressing grief over the loss of life and material due to the floods, NAIMA expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.

In the aftermath of the floods, NAIMA’s member companies have also been contributing to the rescue and relief efforts through various means, including financial, transportation and logistical support. NIMA has appreciated the support provided by the member organizations during the disaster.

Ritu Singh Vaidya, president of NIMA, said that the government has been supporting the government and the affected communities during disasters and emergencies since its inception. He said that during the time of disaster, the cooperation between the government, private sector and the community can make the relief and rehabilitation work effective.

Expressing respect to the government and security agencies, health workers, rescue workers, volunteers, local communities and various organizations involved in the search, rescue and relief work, NAIMA has urged the stakeholders in the automobile and mobility sector to cooperate to the affected people as per their capacity and available resources.
