Bhojpur. As the time for paddy harvesting is approaching, farmers in Bhojpur are worried after the problem of ‘lye pest’ was seen in the paddy crop. Farmers said that due to the pest infestation, the base of the paddy crop has been damaged, the trees have started falling, the stalks are drying up and the straw is also destroyed.

Dhan Bahadur Thapa, a local farmer, said that most of the farmers in Bokhim of Bhojpur Municipality-5 have been affected by the pest. He said that although such problem was not seen in the past years, this year the pest outbreak has damaged the paddy crop.

He said that due to the damage caused by the pest in the base of the paddy, the plants become weak and fall and this has caused damage to both paddy and straw. After the pest infestation in the paddy crop, the farmers are worried that the production will also be affected this year.

“In the past years, no such pest has been seen in the paddy,” he said, adding, “The pests have damaged the base of the paddy and the plants have started falling.” This has not only damaged the production of paddy but also the stubble required for livestock. ”

Geeta Bista, another farmer of Bhojpur Municipality-5, said that the problem of lye pest has been seen at the base of the paddy. He said that due to the pest infestation, the paddy plant as well as the crop have also been damaged.

“At the base of the paddy, the pest sucks the sap. As a result, the plant is drying up and the stalks turn black and fall off,” he said, adding, “We farmers are in trouble as the main crops that we eat throughout the year have started getting destroyed during the time of importing.” ”

Farmers say that as the time for ripening and importing paddy is approaching, such problems have been seen in the crop, which has increased the concern of waste of effort and investment. Farmers are in more trouble as the fall of paddy plants makes it difficult to bring the crop and both paddy and straw are damaged.
