KATHMANDU: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dipak Kumar Sah has said that special concessions, collateral-free loans and technology transfer will be provided to encourage women entrepreneurs.
At a workshop on ‘Women Entrepreneurship in Nepal: Policy Implementation, Review and Parliamentary Action Plan’ organized by the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Nepal here today, Minister Pokharel said that the government would facilitate small and medium enterprises registered and renewed in the name of women entrepreneurs to provide special discount, collateral-free concessional loan and startup loan at three percent interest rate.
Stating that the state should provide protection and concessions to new industries in the initial stage like a newborn, he said that the ministry was working to simplify the administrative process of setting up and operating industries and maintain policy stability. He said that the initial support would play an important role in employment generation, tax contribution and economic prosperity.
Minister Shah urged the parliamentarians to raise the legal and financial issues of women entrepreneurs in the parliament and increase parliamentary vigilance in order to make the policy formulation and implementation effective.
Women entrepreneurship is a medium to create employment, change the social mindset and make national economy dynamic, he underscored the need for collaboration among the government, private sector, financial institutions and development partners.
On the occasion, FNCCI President Darshana Shrestha said that although women entrepreneurs have contributed to employment and economy, they are facing financial access, market expansion, business registration and operation and policy and institutional obstacles. She stressed on the effective implementation of existing policies, necessary reforms and collaboration among stakeholders.
The workshop dwelt on policy reforms, expansion of financial access, institutional coordination and creating business environment for promoting women entrepreneurship.
