The index, which measures the market, increased by 1.40 points to sit at 2,665.53 points.
Today, 2,12,23,414 units of shares of 358 companies were traded at a total of Rs 7,43,93,66,049.
The share prices of 98 companies increased while the prices of 171 companies declined.
