KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Manoj KC has pledged to keep the safety and dignity of the citizens paramount. In his brief address after being conferred with the insignia of the Inspector General of Police at the Ministry of Home Affairs today, he vowed to remain unwavering in his commitment to the constitution and law.
Saying that he would not compromise on the dignity and impartiality of the police organization, IGP KC pointed out the relationship with the people as an important asset of the police organization. “Let us all come together from today to start the journey from duty to service delivery, where citizens feel trust and not fear when they see police and every police officer can take pride in their uniform,” he said.
He announced that a high-level mechanism would be set up immediately in his own secretariat to listen to the grievances of all police personnel, including at the basic level. IGP KC expressed his commitment to work seriously on the issues of limited resources, lack of buildings, long working hours, impartiality in transfers and promotions and mental health.
Urging the government for necessary resources, legal clarity and functional autonomy, IGP KC sought support from the political parties to keep the police organization free from partisan influence.
