Lumbini Province: 506 killed in road accidents in last fiscal year

Lumbini. A total of 506 people were killed in road accidents in Lumbini province in the last fiscal year. Which is higher than the previous fiscal year. According to The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal, 496 people were killed in road accidents in the province in the fiscal year 2080/81 BS.

A total of 5,691 people were injured in 3,479 road accidents in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS. According to The Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal, the number of road accidents has increased while the traffic police has intensified the checking and action of vehicles.

In the previous fiscal year 2080/81 BS, 1,693 people were injured in 1,120 road accidents. Chief of Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal, Superintendent of Police Mitrabandhu Sharma said that the number of minor accidents has increased in the last fiscal year.

Lumbini Province has collected Rs 178.38 million in fines from various drivers for violating traffic rules in the last one year. According to the office data, 170,080 vehicles violating traffic rules were collected during the investigation carried out in all the 12 districts of the province in the fiscal year 2081/82 BS through the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal.

The fine collected for violation of traffic rules is Rs 4,145,916 more than the previous fiscal year 2080/81. In the previous fiscal year, a fine of Rs 174.23 million was collected from violators.

Although the fine amount was collected more in the fiscal year 2081/82 as compared to the previous fiscal year 2080/81, the number of vehicles being prosecuted for violating the traffic rules has decreased compared to the previous fiscal year. This is a decrease of 63,016.

In the fiscal year 2080/81, 233,096 vehicles were impounded while in the fiscal year 2081/82, the number of vehicles was 170,080, according to SP Sharma.

Superintendent of Police Sharma said that although the number of vehicle action has decreased, the fine fee has increased. Rupandehi has collected the highest fine of Rs 60.84 million while 50,441 vehicles have been impounded.

In Rupandehi, a fine of Rs 11.88 million was collected through the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Butwal, and Rs 48.96 million was collected through the District Traffic Police Office, Rupandehi.

Similarly, rs 327,503 was collected from 37,435 vehicles in Banke, Rs 23.16 million from 21,590 vehicles in Dang, Rs 14.55 million from 13,561 vehicles in Kapilvastu and Rs 10.6million from 8,300 vehicles in West Nawalparasi.
