Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Champadevi cable car will be built at Kirtipur in Kathmandu with an investment of Rs 5 billion. The company has prepared and submitted an environmental impact assessment report to the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
The company has said that it will build a cable car with a length of 2.075 kilometers. The cable car will have 34 gondolas. Similarly, the capacity of each gondola is 10. The company aims to serve 5,000 passengers per day.
Champadevi Eco Friendly Company Pvt. Ltd. is going to build Champadevi Cable Car in Ward No. 4 of Kirtipur Municipality. The company has submitted a proposal to construct the upper station in Ward No. 4 of Kirtipur Municipality and the lower station in Ward No. 1 of Dakshinkali Municipality.
According to the proposed report, the construction of the cable car project is estimated to cost Rs 5 billion. According to the company, 5,000 tourists arrive in cable cars every day. Also, the company plans to complete the construction within two years.
The project will use a total of 5 hectares of forest area, affecting the habitat of plants and birds including white red grass, barren, ringeri, etc. For this, measures such as 10 times tree plantation, wildlife conservation, dust and night pollution control have been proposed instead of felling trees.
Around Rs 66.6 million has been allocated for environmental management in the construction and operation phase. Out of this, Rs 9.1 million will be used for local development and services under social responsibility.
According to the report, the project will create permanent employment for 312 people and temporary employment for 300 people. It has been mentioned in the report that priority will be given to the locals. Bishal Group, Sanghai Pariwar and Nepal Chamber of Commerce President Kamlesh Agrawal will be the main investors in this cable car project.
