Nawalparasi. Farmers of Palhinandan rural municipality of Bardaghat Susta West Nawalparasi have been queuing up since last night to collect fertilisers.

The farmers have been standing in front of the cooperative and ward offices since last night to collect chemical fertilizers.

Ramanandan Harijan of Palhinandan Rural Municipality-4 said, “It has been two months since the sowing was completed. We have been waiting in line since night hoping to get the fertilizer provided by the government. He expressed concern over the decline in paddy production if chemical fertilizers are not used in the fields.

Harijan said, “We have received 25 kg of urea fertilizer per farmer after standing in line in front of ward no. 4 office since night to collect fertilizer. Seeing the shortage of fertilizers, we are in a dilemma whether to cultivate or not. ’

Farmers queued up in front of the cooperative to collect urea fertilizer from 3 pm on Thursday at Harpur in Palhinandan, said Rabindra Harijan. Stating that the land has dried up due to excessive heat due to lack of rainfall for a long time, he said that the paddy has started drying up.

According to Palhinandan-4 ward chair Rabindra Sahani, urea has been distributed at the rate of 25 kg per farmer by arranging it in line to distribute it to all the farmers as there is a shortage of fertilizers.

Chief District Officer of West Nawalparasi, Hiralal Regmi, said that the initiative has been initiated as the farmers have been complaining about not getting fertilizer as per the requirement. Stating that there was a need to increase the quota of fertilizers, he said that the government would move ahead in coordination with the concerned bodies for this purpose.
