Federal Civil Service Bill: Probe committee’s tenure extended by a week

Kathmandu. Kathmandu: The term of the Parliamentary Inquiry Special Committee formed to investigate the lapses in the report of the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080, has been extended by a week. Today’s meeting of the House of Representatives agreed to extend the term of the committee.

Speaker Devraj Ghimire said that the committee has been demanding an extension of seven days. A special committee was formed by the House of Representatives on July 17 to study and investigate the flaws in the report of the State Management Committee on the Federal Civil Service Bill, 2080 BS.

The special committee was formed to study and investigate into the issue of tampering with the provision related to ‘cooling period’ of retired civil servants while sending the bill to the House of Representatives from the State Affairs Committee.

Similarly, today’s meeting of the House of Representatives has changed the responsibilities of the members of the parliamentary committee. Dikpal Kumar Shahi, who was earlier in the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee, has been sent to the Women and Social Affairs Committee.

Lawmaker Bishnu Kumar Karki has been given the responsibility of infrastructure development committee from agriculture committee, Pratima Gautam from infrastructure committee to agriculture committee and Asha BK from women and social affairs committee to agriculture committee. Today’s assembly has agreed to the proposal to make responsible changes of the members of the parliamentary committee.

Similarly, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung left for Shanghai on Thursday to participate in the ‘Artificial Intelligence Conference-2025’ to be held in Shanghai, China. The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers informed the House today about the assignment.
