‘Tourism Policy 2082’ unveiled, NRNA to be encouraged to invest

Kathmandu. The government has unveiled the ‘Tourism Policy 2082 BS’.  The government policy has made provisions to encourage non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) to invest in nepal’s tourism sector.

Nepal will collaborate with diplomatic mission TAG_OPEN_div_24 s abroad, honorary consulgenerals and consuls to promote Nepal’s tourism. According to the policy, non-resident Nepalis living in different countries will be encouraged to invest in the tourism sector. ’

The government TAG_OPEN_div_22 has made this provision by issuing the Tourism Policy 2082 after 17 years. Earlier, the Tourism Policy 2065 BS was issued. Likewise, the government has pledged to collaborate with the private sector, nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad as well as non-resident Nepali organisations for the promotion of tourism.

Similarly, the policy provide TAG_OPEN_div_20 s for exchange of knowledge, skills and technologies related to tourism with non-resident Nepalis living in different countries abroad. There is also a provision to run a special campaign targeting the families of non-resident Nepalis to visit their ancestral places.

The government TAG_OPEN_div_18 is going to conduct various tourism fair festivals and destination promotion activities with the participation and co-investment of the private sector for the development and expansion of the tourism sector. The government plans to make the related tourism service delivery management system efficient, effective and responsive.

The government TAG_OPEN_div_16, in coordination with the concerned ministries and agencies, is going to make arrangements to charge the service fees to be paid by foreign tourists in convertible foreign currency or Nepali currency as prescribed by the Nepal Rastra Bank as well as through the online system.

According TAG_OPEN_div_14 to the policy, the study, research and statistics and information of the tourism sector will be updated and a ‘Tourism Satellite Account’ will be prepared to collect and analyze the overall data related to tourism. Similarly, the government has said that it will simplify the visa process and make arrangements for issuing online visas to facilitate the movement of tourists.
